The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Lendu/Bada & Shona linguists for freelance assignments. In addition, we welcome applications from professionals with experience in translation, interpreting, and transcription.
  • Interpreting (face-to-face, telephone, and video)
  • Written translation
  • Audio transcription
  • Video transcription
  • English subtitle (SRT) creation
  • Proofreading and quality review

Assignments may be offered on a project-by-project basis depending on client demand and your availability.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from experienced and new linguists.
If you already work as an interpreter, translator, or transcriber, we would be pleased to hear from you.
However, professional experience is not always required. If you are fluent in Lendu or Bada and English, you may still apply.

New Linguists

Fluency in Lendu/Bada, Shona, and English is what matters most. Even if you have little or no professional experience, we encourage you to apply.
Furthermore, we provide guidance to help new linguists begin their careers.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Fluency in Lendu/Bada
  • Fluency in Shona
  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional and reliable working practices
  • Access to a computer and internet connection for remote assignments

Relevant qualifications are welcomed but are not essential for all projects.

  • All interpreters and translators must operate as self-employed contractors and submit invoices and timesheets accordingly.
  • We are happy to support new applicants through the onboarding and vetting process.
  • Additional checks may be required depending on the client sector, including NHS, local authority, education, or community-based assignments.
